Stupid antenna ?
« on: April 25, 2012, 09:14:28 PM »
I have an Icom IC-740 and am building the buddistick on this site, but had a thought on what makes a 2M/440cm antenna that? I mean what would happen if I plug it into my HF rig, nothing, fried system, noise, etc?

Lots of noise, and a few Strong Signals on Receive, Relatively Nothing on TX with a very High Reflected Power. Think about it. !/4 Wave at 10 Meters is roughly 105", and your 2 Meter Antenna is around 18".... How much signal do you think 18" untuned is going to receive. Lower the Frequency, the Longer the antenna needs to be to reach resonance. Just Say'en.... YMMV....
