SOUTH DAKOTA CHECKING IN!

Don't believe those 'something serious' is going to happen on X date rumors, I've been hearing those over and over again for years. The only sure thing is continuing inflation, devaluation, and more places yelling buy gold on TV. All of them laugh all the way to the bank.

It happened already. No need to worry. We handled it.

Whew...thank you! Now I can get back to baling that hay and getting the farm ready for winter.
You see, there are several seasons in SD. There is (of course) Winter...usually lasts between 6 and 7 months..then there is summer...(about 2 months in the best of times where you spend all your time fixing what got broken by the winter) and the rest of the year you spend getting the farm READY for winter...pick up all your stuff from the yard, caulk the windows, change the oil in the snow blower transmission, etc.
It is a fairly organized and methodical manner for living. You get the really long days where it is daylight until about 10 PM for those two months I told you about where you fix what got broken by the prior winter.
I planted the garden really late this year, so I am hoping that things that like cold climate will do well. I did get the tomato's in on time though. The peppers just seem to be languishing along and not getting any bigger. It has been an unusually COOL summer. Low 60's in the morning...but then it is easier to do chores without the blasting heat of the sun.
Got one sow who will come due in mid September which means I'll have 5-8 piglets to winter over...that should be interesting.
Life is good out here on the prairie. You should try it.
Cheers

Welcome from CO. Spent many Summers climbing in the Black Hills and really miss it. Let me know if you might be interested in trying to connect on a band someday.
AD:
Welcome sir.
Kind of like AZ. We have 4 moths of hell (summer) and the 7.5 months of heaven
