1x1 callsign is in hand N7P (National 7 area Park) and will be active in the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona on 4/16/2016. We will be operating at least 3 radios wtih 4 operators with one possible digital running either PSK,RTTY or JT65 if the bands are crappy.  More info on freq and modes as we get closer. This will coincide with the National Park Service event https://www.nps.gov/findapark/national-park-week.htm running from 4/16-4/25 2016.

Space. 20 seem open better during the day and 40 in the evening.  What antennas do you have?

If you keep an eye on the FB page you will see activators self-spotting or chasers spotting them.

We will try everything and use this as a general guide

I have an NVIS 40M antenna...
with the tuner it tries to work on 80M but fails quite badly
it tunes on 20M and I can here others, but have yet to make a contact on it,
it tunes on 10M, but can't even here others with it
it tunes on 6M, and can't even hit a local repeater with 100W that I can hit with 5W on a hand held radio

other antennas would be hamstick kind, 80, 40, 10, 6

The weather up there on Saturday was a mixture of light snow & rain, and continued wet conditions for most of the day. We had a good time though and learned quite a bit from the experience, especially me.  ;)

20m, 40m and all the other HF bands were down in the dirt for the majority of the day, with occasional pockets of good comm.

Yep, but there was a pipe open to South America in the late afternoon.  There were some pileups I couldn't crack into before heavy QSB settled in.  Then the grill took over my interest ---
