I held a Technician license 22 years ago and am now rejoining the HAM community.  Will be taking the test on 3 Oct.  In the meantime, I bought a BaoFeng BF-8HP and keeping it on hand until I see my name on the FCC license database.

I retired from the US Air Force after 35 years and now enjoying paradise in the lake effect snow belt here.  We are ~ 40 miles NE of Syracuse, NY.
