Contest/raffle for a Tech and General package at Hamtestonline.com
« on: September 05, 2012, 12:49:28 PM »
John, who owns www.hamtestonline.com has give me a code good for a Tech and General class study guide for his site. This is worth $50.

John has moved to Arizona and we have met face to face and actually passed a Chandler CERT class together about a week ago.

He gave away free Tech codes for his site to everyone that graduated from the CERT class and is thinking of trying to do that nationwide.

But i digress.

So those of you that have just joined and dont have a HAM license yet, HTOL is the best and most efficient way to study for those exams.

So give me some suggestions on how the make this a fair giveaway for this Tech and General study course.  Also tell you friends.

Hamtestonline is the best study guide....

Took me 4 days of studying with HTO and only HTO to pass extra... Results like that don't lie.. Half this website has used HTO to pass their test...

I don't know what would make for a good giveaway, I do know that if I got it I would pass out the information for the site to the Ontario Truck Driving school. All their students should be getting their HAM license before entering the work force IMHO but don't, and they currently don't refer anyone anywhere or give any information on how to obtain one.

Suggestion: Have them submit a post of 50 words or less (5 lines) explaining why they should be given the free training.  Should be something along the theme of how they would use ham to be prepared for disaster, as in emergency comms.  Let it run for no more than 2 weeks, then pick the winner.

This is a good idea.  This is in the mix.   Lets see what else folks come up with.

How about a fully guided antelope hunt and fishing trip, complete with a healing soak in mineral hot springs in exchange?

I like Earthbound's idea.  Or if you want to have some real fun, get similar entries from local scouts who are interested.

Well, guessed I missed out.  :(

Still going to start studying; will figure out how to squeeze it in between work, cleaning, new bonehead puppy, Thanksgiving, relatives for the holiday, kids, leaking Jeep, RD's injury, cleaning, laundry, oral surgeon, cleaning, OT at work, old bonehead puppy, and somewhere in all of that - sleep.    ::)

I used HTO to go from 0 to Extra, and have made the recommendation to many others. I have found a lot of potential radio amateurs out there that just had no clue as to how to get into the hobby. HTO lets them do it at their own pace in the privacy of their home. We just gotta get the word out to people who may be interested. I feel like every new ham grows another one, so HTO giving some freebies will surely help them out.
