Passed the xtra
« on: December 14, 2015, 09:24:57 PM »
Kept putting it off and while I was at our monthly meeting tonight thought I would give it a try and only missed 1 on the extra test. Glad that is over, now on to CW. Whole new box of worms.

Congrats and welcome to the club! Your secret Xtra class decoder ring should be arriving soon, along with instructions for the secret handshake. Seriously, well done!

The VE test is open book. Start it now.

It will take a few days to chase down some of the obscure answers so download the PDF from the link above,  read it and the Multiple Question test is in that book.  Print it out, fill out and send it in.

Dont remember if I emailed or mailed it

You dont have to wait.  You take the test in your home.   No test session.

I have looked at the extra test,
seems to be always hard no mater what era you look at...
so, congratulations.

might be easier than renewing your license though, guess I  have about a year to study...
the general test took me about 45 min. of study (I already knew most of it after already playing with the radio for 10 years)
but not sure I am up for designing my own coax cable, or other such things I might find on the extra test

Renewing your license is super easy on the FCC website.  Took me all of 2 minutes to complete and print off a copy of the new license.
