Baofeng or Wouxon?

Ok, I've finally got my Tech license, and I'm trying to decide between Baofeng and Wouxon. Wouxon is twice the price of Baofeng, is it worth it, or should I save my money and get the Baofeng? I don't have a whole lot of money, so some of the more expensive HT's are out of my reach. I just want to run voice on 2m and 70cm.

Nope it's not worth twice the price on these.. But if you can afford a Kenwood/Icom/Yaesu they are much better in my opinion..

Baofeng is great for the price.. but a pain in the ass to program.

I have 4 Yaesu  FT 60r, very easy to program.

I've used Chirp and it works pretty well.

I have tried the Baofeng and the Wouxon and they seem the same to me,
even the same software and cable program each of them...
I guess they are different, but I sure could nto tell how.

the boefong just seems cheap and looks cheap to me feels it too.
I have a wouxon yes its also a cheap chinese made radio but its a better build in my opinion. I know alot of first responders who have wouxon as well and like it.

I want to say they are both made at the same place in China.. I think they are coming out with Mobile too.. They aren't bad for 50$ great for a go bag... Which is where mine ended up.. But I still grab my Kenwood whenever I Want to use an HT.

I have a Wouxan also. I use Kg-UV Commander (FREE Program to download) to program it on the computer. Working with ARES/RACES  her at the home QTH I have found it to be a reliable piece of gear. Great for work with ARES van.

On our van we have about 25 radios that are public service radios with the capabilities of patching mismatched police and fire radio systems into nets for use on multi-agency call-ups.  For example for the Sihk shooting in Oak Creek WI where there were Federal, State, County and Local police and fire presence, we were called out.

During this call up the Wouxan took a licking and just kept on ticking as they uses to say on that commercial. IMO the Wouxan is a well built radio.

I decided to buy the Baofeng. I really can't afford the Wouxun at this point in time. I baby my equipment, so durability isn't a huge issue. I plan to use Chirp to program it.
