For those who are chomping at the bit to at least listen before getting your license, do what I did, go here http://www.websdr.org/ (http://www.websdr.org/) These are HF radio stations around the world hooked up to the internet.
Here is one of my favorites that I listened to for several months before getting started with HTOL. http://w4ax.com/ (http://w4ax.com/)
Click below the waterfall on any of the bands and slide the cursor below a "trace" like this one on the 80 meter band at 3643.14 Mhz

Listening tonight, caught some antenna-build conversations - very cool - and some casual rag chewing.

Yep. Pretty cool. I spent a lot of time there before i got my ticket.

Fire up the 80 meter band if you are still around.. All the north Georgia boys come out this time of night on 80m and start talking crazy.. It's funny..
That guys rig is right down the street from me in GA.. So his antenna is local..
