motorola xts 3000
« on: January 01, 2016, 03:57:26 PM »
one of my friends handed me a motorola XTS 3000 to use,
it is quite the nice radio,
one of the battery packs is dead, so I was thinking about taking it apart and putting a DC to DC converter inside to run it off external 12V (he is ok with me doing this)
now I can just match the battery voltage when I do it, and test the current it takes,
but does anyone actually know the voltage range it has in ?

commercial radio gear fails to mention all kinds of details
reminds me how lucky we are to get all the details for the radio gear sold for hams

now that I have played with this radio for a while, it is quite the amazing radio,
I might just rebuild the broken battery pack.
that website has a battery eliminator for not that much money, might just get that...

I have and use an XTS 1500. I carry it with me at work. So far so good.

I never heard of this radio, so I did a little research. It's a pretty impressive radio that is probably worth it's price tag.

Used ones in the $300 range.

Please post an update once you've had a chance to mess around with it.m

remember you need the programmer and motorola software to go with it
or you get someone else to program it for you
