Just heard you on the radio I was lurking a bit. Heard you talk about the repeater coverage map so here I am to get that info. Looks like we have a lot in common. I was a marine so have always had more then my share of firearms and I also used to compete at the state level. Many years ago and a better set of eyes. I still hunt and come home with my elk and deer. I fish every two weeks when I get home to Eagar,AZ.
Thanks for the information website KG7TEY

Came across your video about programming the Bao-Feng F8HP on youtube. I noticed you were in Pinellas county as am I. I work for the power company. I’m also a rabid preparedness advocate. I just became the proud owner of this new radio. I am currently enrolled in the Ham test online. Does this radio have to go through the programming you showed in order to scan. Befor I’m able to transmit I want to listen to hear and experience how folks do the real thing. Please advise.

Thanks for visiting the PH site. Be sure to visit the forum (link in the black bar at the top) as we are always willing to help you with any questions.
First off, I live in AZ And just picked Pinellas as a example.
The short answer is yes, in a sense. According the the mfg, this needs to be done to “initialize” the radio and allow it to be programmed. I have not tried it without this step, so YMMV.
Scanning each xxx.0000 takes forever and is not of much use. If you want to scan just the repeaters in your area then programming via Chirp of (RT Systems) is the best way to do this. This allows you to scan only the repeaters instead of those empty unused freqs.
The method is show was for on freq, but it you do the same this with both 70cm and 2m on a different tab, you can then copy and paste both onto the same page so you get both in the radio at the same time.
Be sure to pick up the “real” cable in the link from the article. It works without worry as opposed to the $5 knock off cables.
If you have any issues in programming, join the forum and PM me and I will call and walk you through it.

Good choice on hamtestonline. I know John and Christian personally as they live here in the PHZ area and we are on the same CERT and Sheriffs posse commo teams.

I cannot thank you enough for your You Tube video “Programming the BaoFeng BF F8HP radio using Chirp”. I had spent hours and hours just trying to get a couple of local Repeaters programmed in using Chirp and the computer cable. Your video not only explained why I was having my problems, your section on Importing from RepeaterBook straight into the radio was more helpful than I can express. Started with the UV-5R. No have a BF-F8HP and UV-82HP thanks to you. Baofeng and Amazon owe you a commission. Thanks again KF7IGW

I’m interested in working with you
Hi there,
My name is Armin and I’ve been working, with my company, as a DIY survival (and prepper) article writer for around a year and a half now. Of course, I provide both the article and pictures for your requests.
After checking out your site I felt that together we could make good money both of us doing what we do best, me writing articles and you advertising and profiting from them.
I’ll keep this short for now, we can go into more detail when we chat.
Working in this field for a while now, I gained enough knowledge to say that whatever you can come up with, I can make it. Let it be carpentry, electrical works, survival cooking and much more. I’ll send you a few samples of articles I’ve made in the past. I’m sure it will give you an idea of what I can give you (Of course, if you’d like, I can remake these articles for you): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8HDnnBbK9bdNXJGSW5WSHNYUDg
I know it’s not easy coming up with ideas for new articles weekly or daily, because of this I can provide you with a list of articles I’ve already made or can make for you, all you’ll need to do is choose from a list of article names the ones you like and send it back to me with any notes and requests you might want to tell me.
I’d love to chat with you over Skype so we can see how we can work together. My skype name is: galorsarmin
If you have any questions ask away!
I look forward to chatting (and working together) with you.
Best regards,
Gallic Writing Arminius Ltd.
